Community Engagement

It’s not just about business… but about the community, too, and below are just some of the charities / community projects we support.

Supporting Leicester Comedy Festival

The Leicester Comedy Festival is the longest running comedy festival in the UK, having started back in 1994 and has been get big and better each year. Since it started, it has featured top stand-up names such as Sir Lenny Henry, Jo Brand, Paul Merton, Jack Dee, Rory Bremner, Johnny Vegas, Jimmy Carr, Frankie Boyle, Russell Brand, Dara O’ Brian, Simon Pegg, Lee Mack, Harry Hill and the list goes on.

The festival also incorporates comedy film, poetry & spoken word, comic theatre, photographic and art exhibitions, and children’s shows.

With the worldwide covid-19 pandemic, bringing the world to a near standstill. It has been detrimental to so many, affecting us all in some way shape or form. The Leicester Comedy Festival had been running every single year since 1994 and it was inches away from cancelling the 2021 Comedy Festival. Like many businesses, Leicester Comedy festival had to try and pivot their business and for the first time had do everything online due the Covid-19 Pandemic.

As a business professional, the owner Vimal had been involved with the Leicester Comedy Festival on and off over the years and when you’re down in the dumps, sometimes laugher can be the best medicine, so as a business he decided to become a Leicester Comedy Business partners again, as he thought this year should be a must to help lift the nations spirit with laughter through the Leicester Comedy Festival.

Supporting Grassroot Sports

Sapphire Wedding Cars are proud to sponsor two local grassroot football teams. As a huge supporter of local Grassroots Sport our owner, Vimal, firmly believes that his investment will help to deliver positive social change and opportunity for boys and girls wanting to play grassroots football in Leicestershire.

It’s not just about sports – physical sports, football, and sport in general, is proven to benefit local communities both educationally, mentally and physically, and after over 12 months of lockdown I believe that by investing in grassroot sports, we can play our part in helping to provide a safe and healthy pastime for children. So many life skills and employable skills can be learnt through sport, which you cannot get from a textbook!

  • Stoneygate Lions FC Boys Under 11’s
  • Asbhy Ivanhoe FC – Girls Under 10’s

Supporting National Trust

Sapphire Wedding Cars are also members of the National Trust where our aim is to plant trees every year to aiming to offset our carbon footprint.

Vimal’s family consist of young children and he would like to have a greener future for them, and their peers alike.

Additionally, many newlyweds driven by Sapphire Wedding Cars will go on to have children and so we aim to be greener for their future, too.

Supporting Children’s Air Ambulance

The Children’s Air Ambulance is a national service, changing the face of paediatric and neonatal care through the high-speed transfer of critically ill babies and children and flying them from one hospital to another for specialist care. The clinically designed helicopter provides a flying intensive care unit for babies and children.

They work with NHS Paediatric retrieval teams across the UK, enabling them to bring their specialist equipment on board to safely transfer their patients from one hospital to another. If a child is too sick to fly, then the Children’s Air Ambulance can fly a specialist team directly to them.

All transfers of critically ill babies and children carry an inherent risk – the longer a child is out of the hospital, the greater that risk. With our ability to fly approximately four times faster than a land ambulance, we can minimise travel times and risk.

The Children’s Air Ambulance receive no funding from the government or National Lottery.

Vimal being a family man with children, with many friends and family with children, we hope, he or anyone else will never need the Air Ambulance, but if you do, he hopes the Children’s Air Ambulance can be there for anyone in need.

Additionally, many bride and grooms driven by Sapphire Wedding Cars will go on to have children and so we just don’t want to be able to drive them on their wedding day, but help and play our part in helping the family with the children’s welfare in an emergency if needed in future (hopefully they don’t need it).

So with this in mind, both myself & and my super nephew “Anay” Dare to Abseil & Skywalk (as tall as 10 double decker buses (bigger than 150 feet) at the new Tottenham Hotspurs Football stadium hoping to raise funds for this great charity Children’s Air Ambulance.

Supporting Sports Traider

Sports Traider Charity exists to give young people employment and sports participation opportunities. In doing so they gain confidence, self-esteem, retail skills and improve mental and physical health.

One of the many thing Sports Traider does is Sports Traider Charity acquires redundant sportswear and equipment, which can be given to disadvantaged children and young persons, free of charge, to help them participate in their chosen sport, again helping to remove any barriers.

The charity recycles sports clothes and equipment, collecting from schools, sporting facilities and sports companies whether the product is second hand or new. Counterfeit goods are also received via Trading Standards departments and “rebranded” to ensure that the product is legal; encouraging sports companies to recycle old stock by donating it to the cause therefore significantly reducing the pressure on landfill.

So many children/young adults are faced with barriers to sports for many different reasons and Vimal believes along the same lines / sample philosophy as Sports Traider…..believing in up-cycling / re-using (what ever one wants to call it! ). But there is a saying that… “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”. Children / young adult grow so fast out sport clothing and sports equipment can also be outgrown due to being size specific and thus these items still having many many years of use remaining in them. Helping to get this useable sport clothes / equipment to children / young adults facing barriers to sports, can help reduce the barriers to various sports.

Also, many health academics say that physical activity can help combating mental illness too.
